The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income working people, seniors, and the disabled to put healthy food on the table. SNAP benefits are issued electronically monthly.

SNAP eligibility is based on household income, household size, and other factors.

Applying for or receiving SNAP benefits does not make you a public charge and will not be considered in a public charge determination.

SNAP interviews for applications and re-certifications may be handled by phone. Visit http://www.mybenefits.ny.gov to apply, recertify or upload documents. Documents may also be submitted via fax: 845-486-3232, by using the NYDocSubmit mobile app (.pdf reference), by mail, or by scan at the DCFS kiosk. The use of SNAP EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) cards for food purchases will be expanded Statewide to include online purchases from Amazon and possibly one or two other sites (Walmart and ShopRite).

Summer Meals

Summer Meals are free, healthy meals for kids and teens that are served at favorite summertime places when the school year is over. Anyone ages 18 and under can come when breakfast, lunch, and/or snacks are served. There is no sign-up or paperwork and adults are welcome to bring their own meals and eat with their kids. Many places that offer Summer Meals have fun activities too!
